So I restarted the computer, reconnected it to the computer, and manually opened i Tunes. If I had known this would've happened I never would've attempted to update to i OS 8...everything worked well together before. It seems i Pod will NOT go into recovery mode though. What indicates (either in i Tunes or on screen of i Pod) that it's in recovery mode? However, once I safely remove it from the computer and then reconnect it, i Tunes no longer recognizes the i Pod.When I leave it connected to the computer for a while and wait for i Tunes to recognize it, every 15-20 mins I continuously hear the USB reconnection "sound" as if I just connected it and the computer is attempting to run it as new hardware. Some owners of Apple's i Pod touches began experiencing a problem after installing version 8.1 of Apple's i Tunes application. The problem occurred while the i Pod touch was connected to the computer with i Tunes open and involved the i Pod touch being "stuck" or "frozen" with the message "Verifying i Pod" on the screen. He has written for the RAND Corporation, Sterling & Ross Publishers and Metropol Literary Agency.I'm running Win 7 and I just received a 5th Gen i Pod Touch after having a 3rd Gen for many years.Right out of the box yesterday, I was able to transfer my library, playlists, and it appears all other data to the new 5th Gen.

When updating the two i Pads in the house to i OS 8 I had a bit of a hard time and had to put them into recovery mode to complete the process. If you run into errors again, turn off any anti-virus SW on your computer in case that is getting in the way.You might also start with a computer re-boot before trying again. If your i Tunes is up to date, maybe uninstall it (you won't lose any data). Finally, if you have anti-virus SW try turning it off temporarily ...If you're on a PC, also uninstall "Apple Mobile Device Support" ... this probably wouldn't cause your immediate problem, but once you get the i OS update process going again you don't want AV software from getting in the way. I have to open i Tunes myself after i Pod connects while simultaneously resetting i Pod.
